LOCATION: TBILISI
Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, was founded in the 4th century by King Vakhtang Gorgasali on the site of its warm mineral-water springs. Tbilisi is an awe-inspiring city with ancient and fascinating history. It is a lively town with friendly people, that offers many cultural and leisure activities.
PROJECT MOTIVATION and WORK ACTIVITIES:
The Latvian society of Georgia NGO “Ave Sol!” was registered as the legal entity in 1994 and in the autumn on September 26, 2014 was celebrated its 20th anniversary. At society constantly works the Sunday school of the Latvian language. There are two groups: the group with 16 children aged 6 to 15 years (the third generation of the senior members of society) and the group of 5 adults aged 50–60 years. In this work participate the parents and Latvians who work in Georgia. A chronic problem is absence of teachers of music and dances, and also for carrying out practical classes in drawing, needlework and in other workshops. It is necessary to involve volunteers for teaching of the Latvian and English languages and for help in the organization of holidays as the Independence Day, Easter, Christmas, Ligo festival, birthdays and anniversaries. The volunteers from Latvia would be that missing link which would strengthen the Latvian component in the Georgian society, would create the environment of the Latvian language and culture for youth. On the other hand volunteers have to have an interest in history and life of Georgia. There is a lot of work, the main thing that return would be maximum. Minimum stay any 15 days from first Saturday during the year, maximum stay 3 months (if the host organization is happy with your performance in the project during the first month). Working hours/days: 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. Most weekends are workdays.
SPECIAL REMARK: We are waiting for volunteers with knowledge of Latvian and/or Russian languages (obligatory) and good knowledge of English language for teaching (the practical and pedagogical experience is desirable).

Applicants will be interviewed by the camp manager via Skype for selection. Please add your Skype address on your motivation letter.
ACCOMMODATION: In the House of Latvian Friends by the office of Latvian Honorary Consulate in the downtown area: 2–3 bed room (26 m2) with balcony on the 3rd floor. The toilet, washroom with shower and kitchen are on the same floor. The little green courtyard. Internet.
ADDRESS: 17 R. Tabukashvili street, Tbilisi.
FOOD: Will be provided three times a day (vegetables, fruits, meet, fish and national dishes). The volunteers will also take part in housekeeping and cooking. Please bring along some of your favorite recipes.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU:
Sleeping bags are required. You can bring your music instruments, CD or DVD with your favorite national songs, music and much enthusiasm, good humor and of course photo/video camera.
LEISURE TIME:
The volunteers will have chance to participate in some of favorite outdoor pursuits. We can arrange picnics in the beautiful nature. The volunteers will have the opportunity to visit a lot of historical monuments, ancient churches and monasteries in Tbilisi and in regions of Georgia.
LANGUAGE: Latvian, English, Russian, Georgian.
THE LIMITATION OF THE PROGRAM: 2 - 3 volunteers.
AGE: 18 +
PARTICIPATION FEE: 350, 00 Euro for the first month and the following months 300, 00 Euro. Participation fee is to be paid upon arrival.
REMARK: No smoking, no drinking,no drugs and sex during the working hours in the working place!!
MEETING PLACE AND TIME: Please inform us about your arrival details in order to make meeting place and time more comfortable for you. (Pick up from Tbilisi airport and follow 30,00 Euro (if desired).
